It's the Dali Man!

On the train to Figueres with Marianna, she with good ink, my generous guide! And cheer up Miss Anh, Dali isn't that crazy is he?

Oh.

Strangely compelling.

Don't mess with the noses!

....or the toeses.

Square surrounding the museum:

Exterior on one side. I wonder if I can erect something similar outside the kitchen window.

I guess I missed the memo about the blue outfits. Still, I had a really nice time.

On my way to the Fundacio Joan Miro the next day, just before I was attacked by a bunch of vile 8 year olds (don't worry, I'm pretty good at kicking and yelling too)

Outside the museum...Cute fella, but a bit rude.

You have no idea how long I waited for that stupid bird to fly by.

They were very strict about taking photos within the gallery, so nothing there I'm afraid. Picked up a nice postcard though! It says ceci est la coleur de mes reves.

On the train home from Preswick Airport - can you believe that they have a Peckham's selling Bundaberg Root Beer? Tres gour-may!

I am leaving Glasgow in a few weeks and realised how little I've captured of it for my photo albums. It's been snowing again!

Knitting Misadventures Jan '10

Alright, I admit I am bullcrap at sorting through travel photos - Dali is coming, I promise!

In the meantime, I need to update this bleergh, otherwise, it will rapidly descend into just that. I'm trying!

I named these mitten's 'Santa's Poinsettias', becos I am clearly such a green thumb. As it were, I forgot to make one thumb on the right mitten, and freaked out very badly - until I discovered the 'afterthought' thumb technique, which involves a lot of closing your eyes, screaming and a pair of scissors (in my case anyway). I also ran out of yarn, which was a minor disaster because it meant I had to raid Klaus' mum's yarn stash; this made me feel very guilty - who knows what kind of knitting karma is gonna hit me next.

Last week, I finished a Feather and Fan shawl, hereby named 'My girlfriend is a witch'. We heard this song playing at a shop and Klaus thought it would be hilarious to keep singing it to me, especially when I'm grumpy. He was thrilled to discover I was knitting a shawl of all things; my girlfriend is a witch my girlfriend is a witch! And so it goes.

I'm currently working on a long black cardigan that will hopefully swallow me up and protect me from this freezing cold flat. I'm ordering some polymer clay buttons from Folksy; something very utilitarian and hobbycraftish about them that I like.

The colour of Gaudi's shapes

There's something totally OCD about wanting to memorise every single tile formation and design feature that Gaudi thought up, but I'm not the only one, surely. Enjoy!

The church that Rome certainly did not help build - it is definitely awe inspiring, regardless of how many photographs you see of it beforehand:

On the street - Casa Vicens:

On the street and rooftop - Casa Mila (La Pedrera)

Park Guell - wow! (can I eat that gingerbread house?)

Gaudi's house and garden within the park:

Happy mosaic dreams!
